Play Time - Activities for children

Riyadh is filled with funfairs and play areas; some are open to families and some exclusive for men or women only.

1. Reptile World: Here you get to see live poisonous snakes, lizards, chameleons and skinks. In the video room, visitors can learn how researchers milk the venom from the poisonous snakes and how the particular antidote is prepared. What’s interesting is that by the end of the tour, if you are brave enough you even get to hold the snakes under guided supervision.
Location: Top floor of al-Akariya Mall in Olaya. Tel: 493 3978

2. Janadriyah Road: The deserted area on either sides of this road is packed with activities for kids. You will find a ‘luna park’ fun fair with an enormous slide. This is one of the happening places during the weekend and is open to Families.
Location: Take the road to Thumamah and Janadriyh (Route 550), go east from the Imam University.

3. Diplomatic Quarter: The Sports club here has a wave pool which is popular with children and other sports facilities. Al- Manahil Center in the Diplomatic Quarter offers recreational and sports activities for kids.

4. Ice Skating: Available for boys and men. Months back ice-skating league for boys competed against teams from Abu Dhabi, Kuwait & Germany.
Location: FAL centre on Old Airport Road. Tel: 454 3901

5. Fast Food Restaurants: Most of the fast food restaurants have rides for kids where you can simply pay by inserting coins. McDonalds is one of my favorites when it comes to food and games in a go!

6. Euromarche: This supermarket has a fun fair right in front of it. Open exclusive to Men.

Check out the article – ‘Parks in Saudi Arabia’ for a list of available parks.

Plan your weekend ahead, visit the places above and enjoy! :)
